What to Pack in Your Child's Swim Bag (And Two Family Pools We Love)
04 June 2026
There is a particular brand of weekend chaos familiar to every Singapore parent: the morning of a pool day, scrambling to remember whether anyone has packed the goggles, the spare swimsuit, the sunscreen that hasn't expired. With the June school holidays here and Singapore's heat showing no signs of slowing, a well-packed swim bag is the difference between a brilliant day out and a hot, cranky retreat home an hour in.
We have put together the swim bag checklist we actually use, built around what works in Singapore's climate and what holds up to enthusiastic children. Plus, at the end, two of our favourite places to put it all to good use.
1. Swimwear That Fits WellÂ
The first item in the bag, and the one that gets least thought until it goes wrong. Ill-fitting swimwear on a six-year-old at a waterslide is a recipe for constant adjusting, complaining, and the kind of self-consciousness that ends a pool day early.
A good swim set should sit comfortably, move with your child, and dry quickly. Quick-dry fabrics matter more than you might think in Singapore: after a full afternoon at the pool, you want swimwear that's practically dry by the time you reach the car, so the journey home stays comfortable and the rest of the day stays on track.
Our new swim 2026 collection is designed exactly for this. Vibrant one-pieces, quick-dry styles built to keep up with active children.

The best swim days start with the right essentials and plenty of family fun in the sun.
2. UPF Rash Swim Top and SuitÂ
Singapore's UV index sits at "high" or "very high" almost every day of the year, and that does not change just because it looks overcast. Sunscreen alone, reapplied every hour by hand on a wriggling child, is a losing battle.
A UPF-rated rash guard is the single most effective sun protection you can give your child for the water. It does not wash off, does not need reapplying, and it works the same on cloudy days as it does on sunny ones.

3. Reef-Safe Sunscreen for the Bits a Rash Guard Misses
Even with a rash guard on, you will still want sunscreen for the face, ears, neck, hands, and feet. Reef-safe formulas (without oxybenzone or octinoxate) are kinder to skin and to marine life, which matters at venues like Adventure Cove Water Park's Rainbow Reef where children swim alongside real tropical fish.
Apply 20 minutes before entering the water and reapply after every hour in the sun, or after towelling off.
4. A Full Change of Clothes (Per Child)
This is the one most parents underpack. One full change of clothes per child, including underwear, in a separate dry bag. The shift from waterpark to taxi to cold restaurant lunch is unforgiving on damp swimwear, and a properly dry child is a happy child.
If you can, pre-pack a small kit per child rather than one giant family bag. It is far faster to grab the right pieces at the changing room.

5. A Waterproof Bag for the Wet Stuff
Two bags work better than one. A waterproof or wet bag for damp swimwear and towels on the way home, and your main bag for dry items, phones, snacks, and valuables. Mixing them is how you get a soaked book or a sticky phone.
6. Flip Flops
Pool decks in Singapore get hot enough to genuinely hurt small bare feet, and they are often slippery. A pair of well-fitting, grippy flip flops or pool slides for each child is a small thing that prevents a lot of fuss.
7. Water, Snacks, and a Refillable Bottle
Children in water do not feel thirsty until they are properly dehydrated. Pack more water than you think you need, and dry snacks that travel well: crackers, fruit pouches, a sandwich for longer days. A refillable water bottle saves you queuing for overpriced drinks at venues. Our water bottle sling bags keep bottles upright, insulated, and easy to grab one-handed, and our thermal lunch bags keep snacks cool and fresh through a full day in the Singapore heat.

A lightweight water bottle sling bag keeps drinks within easy reach and encourages hydration betweem swim sessions.

8. Goggles and a Quick-Dry Towel
Round it out with a pair of well-fitting goggles (small children especially get less anxious in the water when they can open their eyes) and a quick-dry microfibre towel per child. Microfibre packs down small, dries fast, and takes up a fraction of the space of a regular beach towel.
9. A Hat That Actually Stays On
Singapore's UV index does not take days off. A wide-brim hat adds protection for the face, ears and neck — the spots a rash guard cannot reach and sunscreen rarely covers well on a moving child. The practical test: if it does not have a chin strap or a toggle, it will be off within five minutes of the waterslide queue. Look for UPF-rated fabric and a brim wide enough to shade the ears. Two Family Water Parks We Love to Test It In
Once the bag is packed properly, the question becomes where to use it. Two of our favourites for Singapore family swim days:
Adventure Cove Waterpark, Resorts World Sentosa

Adventure Cove Waterpark is one of our favourite family-friendly destinations for water play, slides and marine encounters. Credits: Adventure Cove Water Park, Resorts World Sentosa
The benchmark for a special-occasion family pool day in Singapore. The Rainbow Reef snorkelling lagoon is the standout for younger children, the Adventure River works for every age, and the Riptide Rocket gives older children genuine thrills. Premium pricing, but the facilities justify it for a treat day.
If you are heading to RWS this June, keep an eye out for the Le Petit Society x The Ice Cream and Cookie Co Swim and Ice Cream Pop Up in store. A perfect mid-day pitstop for little ones.

Make a day of it at Resorts World Sentosa with a sweet treat from the Le Petit Society x The Ice Cream & Cookie Co. pop-up and a browse of our latest swim collection.

From gentle splash zones to thrilling slides, Wild Wild Wet offers fun for swimmers of all ages. Credits: Wild Wild Wet @ Downtown EastÂ
Our pick for regular school holiday visits. The dedicated Kidz Zone is one of Singapore's best for smaller children, and the bigger rides (the Torpedo, Ular-Lah, Free Fall, Vortex, and Kraken Racers) keep older children entertained for hours. Admission is far more accessible than many waterpark options, making Wild Wild Wet the easy choice when you want a proper waterpark day without the hefty price tag.
